304 stainless steel tube has become the most versatile and widely used stainless steel sheet among austenitic stainless steels due to its high chromium-nickel content and low carbon content. 304 stainless steel, sometimes referred to as “18-8”, has better corrosion resistance than 301 stainless steel or 302 stainless steel, and has excellent tensile and forming characteristics. It will provide satisfactory service at high temperatures, although carbide precipitation may occur with prolonged exposure in the temperature range of 800°F-1600°F.
